When does cabinetry become built-in fine furniture? Here is one example. We recently completed this entertainment center/library unit for a new custom home in the Texas Hill Country. The unit measures 11 ft. wide by 10 ft. tall, and features solid lumber frame and panel doors, customized bays for A/V equipment, and adjustable shelving throughout. Representative of RCW's large traditional casework, the piece is crafted from red alder and alder-veneer plywoods.
Below is a unique storage pedestal for a glass-top dining table. Designed by the client to match existing kitchen cabinets, this piece includes cabinet and drawer storage for linens and silverware, and features recessed-panel doors and reeded columns on all four corners. This design presented some interesting construction challenges, because the lack of 90-degree corners in the base unit precluded the use of conventional case joinery. Built from birch, poplar, and birch-veneer plywoods.

When a client needed a storage solution for identical bedrooms with an unusual space, these built-in chests of drawers were the answer. At 42 inches tall, 44 inches wide and nearly 30 inches deep, each unit features oversized drawers and web frame construction (providing long-lasting, hardwood drawer bearing surfaces). Constructed of Red Oak and Poplar, with Birch and Oak veneer plywoods.
This quarter-circle bar filled a client's needs for more food prep surface and additional seating space for family meals. The 32 inch wide countertop features generous overhangs at the front and back, and comfortably seats 8 to 9 people. It also functions as a room divider between the kitchen and a large family room. Built from red oak veneer plywoods, with a high-pressure laminate countertop to match existing kitchen.
